It’s very rare in Scotland that we get to see a major hollywood blockbuster with the star power of Brad Pitt getting made, but is the case, it does happen from time to time. What’s even better is that this film is being filmed about 500 yards from my place of work in the city centre of Glasgow.
World War Z is a zombie apocolapse film and they have came to George Square in Glasgow to use it as a substitute for the American city Philidelphia and one can only assume they are doing this as it’s cheaper in Glasgow, not that I’m complaining.
Being the massive movie geek that I am I jumped out on my lunch the other day to grab some photo’s of the set and see if I could get a glimpse of the cast etc. Take a look at the images below and see if you notice any of the Glasgow landmarks.
The attention to detail is what has got me to be honest, as you will see with the picture up top (look hard now) and it really is unbelievable how quickly they can make something look like Amercia.
Unfortunately on my visit they were filming out of view of where we could get to, but it was great to see Glasgow buzzing, lots of tourists and a genuine excitement of what was going on around us. I just hope this is a sign of things to come and we get to see some more big films, I heard a rumour The Dark KNight Rises will be doing some filming in Edinburgh, but I’m not sure if its true as I would love to pop along there too.

I managed to pop along for a 2nd visit to the set and caught some filming on video(below) and also got some more cool pictures, check out the Flickr stream to see them all.
